Truth Hurts

With everything that is going on in the United States lately, one question keeps coming to mind. How much longer will I be allowed to write in this blog? Maybe some of you think I am getting a little ahead of myself here. However, be honest, things are not looking too good right now. I am reminded of Romans 1 verses 29-32.

“being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.”

We are living in dark times. I’ve said this before. However, we have a living hope that lives within us…Jesus Christ. He is still with us and we need to cling to Him even more now than ever before. I know that being a Christ-follower is looked down upon. Jesus Himself said that we would be hated for His name’s sake. I am here to tell you to not be afraid. God is with you. We can take heart in His promises and know that we have the strength to get through these dark times.

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6

Take courage in His mighty strength. Do not be afraid or ashamed to speak His word. I know that many believe that the Bible is outdated or that only parts of the Bible are viable. However, every single word within its pages is truth. Maybe that offends some people, but the thing is that the truth hurts sometimes. However, everything that our Lord tells us within the Bible is told to us out of love. We already know that God is love (1 John 4:8). Furthermore, we were given the definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13. I want you to pay close attention to verse 6.

“Love does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth.”

The truth is that we have ALL fallen short of His glory. It doesn’t matter where you come from, what color your skin is, how old you are, or what your social status is. ALL of us have fallen short. Sin is sin. Being “good” won’t save you. Why not? Well, to answer that, I have two questions. What constitutes as good? And, how do you know if you have been “good enough”? There is only one who saves. Only one who can redeem us from the darkness. Jesus Christ.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16

When I started this blog a year ago, I was not sure how popular it would be. Not because of poor advertising or because of a lack of followers. I started this blog fully knowing that there may be times when people will be offended by the truth. As I said, the truth hurts sometimes. Don’t think that the things I write are out of malice or hate. I write what I write out of love. I have experienced a love like no other and I just want to share it with you. Jesus loves you. His love can be seen time and time again, not just in the Bible but in your very lives. We need to come back to Him. Open your eyes to the truth.

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:32
