This Is Me

Hello world. My name is Amaryllis. Before I begin, I just want you to know that this is the first time I have ever done anything like this. I am not one to put my thoughts out there on social media for everyone to see. I may do it occasionally, but only on matters that I honestly find important. So, this whole blog thing is a whole new territory for me.

The reason I even wanted to start this is that I do a lot of thinking while I work. Not because it is a career that involves a lot of creative or critical thinking. I just have a lot of time on my hands. So many thoughts come and go, and I realized that I could put so much of these thoughts to good use. Of course, before I just jump the gun and get really into it, I want to tell you a little about me.

I was born in Chile around 20 years ago. I won’t give my exact age, but I figured a general number would suffice. Depending on who reads this, I may be old, or I may be young. Anyways, I left Chile at a very young age. Five months to be exact. My parents decided to move to the United States so that I may have a better life. It is here where I have lived almost all my life. My parents raised me in a loving Christian home. I grew up with a brother and two sisters, whom I love to death. It is here I met my best friend and soulmate, whom I married. It is where I grew as a person both physically and mentally.

I went to college where I studied psychology. I mostly focused my attention on the social aspects of psychology. I have always been fascinated with personalities and what makes us who we are and how we act around others. Although I have my degree in psychology (as most of us will do) I am working in a field that doesn’t necessarily have to do anything with my major. I instead embarked on a journey in the insurance business and then later switched gears to the educational field. This is where I find myself today.

Along the way, I have learned so much about the world and about myself. Some of these lessons were easy to learn, while others took a lot of time and a lot of strife to learn. I can honestly say that pretty much every single one of us has had to learn, are in the process of learning, or will soon learn these same lessons. It is no easy task, but it is always helpful to know that there is someone out there who has had to go through these same things.

Now, I can’t say that I have lived a traumatic life or been so adventurous that I have experienced a lot in my life. I have lived a fairly boring life to most of the “young peoples” standards. My life has consisted of going to school or work and then going home. THAT’S LITERALLY IT. So…yeah, I can agree… BORING!! However, as simple as my life was, I have a story to tell. I want to be able to share my thoughts and experiences here.

Now, most of what I write will be spiritually based. Therefore, if this doesn’t seem like your cup of tea, then I thank you for reading my first entry and wish you the best. I am not here to convince you to “join my side” or to accept what I believe. I am just here to speak my mind and to hopefully inspire those who like what I write. So, for those of you who feel like what I have to say is worth listening to, I will be sharing many things I have learned. It will be a mix of spiritual lessons and psychological lessons. I am hoping I can write at least twice a week. With all the thinking I do, I know that I will never run out of things to write.

I invite you to embark on this journey with me. Believe it or not, I do not consider myself an expert in anything. Just like you, I am still learning every day. Everything I will write is just as much for me as it is for you. Therefore, do not hesitate to comment on anything I write about. Good or bad. I can take it…I’m a big girl.
