The Word of God

Hey everyone! Sorry for my absence lately. The important thing is I am back and ready to keep sharing God’s word with you all. Maybe to some, this blog isn’t a big deal. I mean it’s not widely known, nor is it my source of income. So, what would it matter if I don’t write for a couple of Fridays? Well, the reason it matters is that God has sent us to spread His word to every corner of the world. By writing for this blog, I am taking part in His plan. I want to do my part in His beautiful plan for me. That is why this blog is important.

It is crazy to think that we are already more than halfway through February. As I write this, I can’t help but think about what my “New Years Resolution” was. I say that in that way because I don’t do the traditional picking things to do or improve on throughout the year. What I’ve done for the past few years is pick a word or two and work on those things for that year. One year it was confidence. Another year it was love. You get the idea. This year I want to work on patience. Well, as I was reading my Bible today, I came to realize that not only did God want me to work on my patience, but also to work on understanding.

“Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, and give attention to know understanding.” – Proverbs 4:1

I am the kind of person who questions things. The kind of person who feels the need to know why. That can become a problem when the answers are either unclear or unattainable. However, as time has gone by, the more I get to know God the more I learn that I can only have true understanding through Him. God has all the answers. The problem is that, as humans, sometimes we are either too impatient to wait for them or we can’t understand them because we are limited in the way we think.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts” – Isaiah 55:8-9

Sometimes, we don’t get to know the answers…and that’s ok. It may be scary or frustrating at times, but if we truly have faith in God we can feel at peace knowing that He has all the answers even when we don’t. He is willing to answer your prayers and your questions. We can find answers within His word. However, sometimes, He requires us to be patient and to understand that in time He will provide the answers we seek. I, myself, have so many questions. I am learning to wait on Him and to let go of the incessant need to know why. I am still learning to cling to His every word fully knowing that it is my source of life.

“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.” – Proverbs 4:20-22

We all need to learn to cling to His word. In it, we can find answers, blessings, comfort, inspiration, hope, and life. God gave us His Word so that we may be able to know who He is and what He intends for us. It is a living word, one that IS relevant in this ever-changing world. We need to come back to it. We cannot stray from it anymore.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
