The Waymaker
by Leon
Life has a way of leading us to dead ends. We can often find ourselves roadblocked by unforeseen circumstances. We can feel unable to proceed forward. We can find ourselves trapped by circumstance, people, and even our own sin. Despite how it may ‘feel’ there is always a road for us. The problem is we cannot always see it but God can.
“Have I not commanded you? Be courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be afraid for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”- Joshua 1:9
The Bible often calls us sheep and Jesus our Good Shepard. Sheep which are known to have a poor sense of direction, find themselves in all kinds of bad places. Despite how wise we may think we are – we have limited understanding. Jesus is our Waymaker. He is our Shepard and our eternal Guide.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
We must learn to rely more on Him and less on our own sense of direction. Many of us forget that we possess the roadmap of life in the form of the Bible. It is our flashlight through a stormy night on the road. It is our beacon of light guiding us to the safety of the harbor in a turbulent sea.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” -Psalm 119:105
As we continue to grow in Christ we must learn to accept that our ultimate Waymaker is our God Himself.
