Practice Faith

by Leon

Jesus said, if we have faith enough, we can drive a mountain into the sea. The Bible reminds us repeatedly that with faith, all things become possible. Faith in Jesus redeems us, and we are told that without faith, it is impossible to please God. We are told to walk by faith and not by what we see.

To reiterate, faith is one of the most important tools a Christian can use. In fact, it’s referenced in  Ephesians as a shield.

A shield is a crucial piece of armor that protects against blows or missiles. Life can throw a lot at us, but our faith can block that which is directed at us, keeping us safe. It’s important for us to use our faith daily and use it positively. The book of Hebrews tells us faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things unseen.

When difficult situations arise have faith that God will be with you. If you’re having a hard time financially, have faith that God will provide for you. If you’re concerned that you are incapable of accomplishing a task, and you feel powerless before said task, tell yourself that through God all things are possible.

The point is, every day we can use our faith positively in some way. But we must watch ourselves too. We must be sure that we are using our faith in a way that is pleasing to God, and in accordance with His word. Faith can be expressed negatively just as much as it can be expressed positively. Often our minds want us to focus on the worst possible scenario. After all, the human heart is inclined to fall into our sinful nature. We tell ourselves that we will never be able to accomplish blank, for whatever reason. We become skeptical that we could ever crawl out of debt or meet whatever provision we require for the next week/month. Sometimes we even lose faith that God is with us.

We must learn to cast off this negative faith and put our trust in God. Ask yourself, is it true according to the Bible that we can fail if God is on our side? No. Does the Bible not tell us God will provide for believers? It does. Does the Bible ever tell us God will abandon us during times of trial? It tells us the opposite. He says He will never leave nor forsake you.

Practice faith daily, encourage yourself by trusting in the words and promises of God. Put on your shield of faith throughout the week. Trust that whatever comes your way, you can overcome it.
