Our Everlasting Constant

I have never been a big fan of change. I can quickly adapt to change, but that doesn’t mean I like for things to change in my life. The funny thing is that change is inevitable. I mean, we have just faced one of the biggest changes in our lives with the Coronavirus. Of course, even before that, our lives were always facing change in one way or another.

As Christ-followers, we can take comfort in knowing that we have a God who never changes. Our God is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forevermore. How wonderful is it to know that we can always count on Him to be our everlasting constant. We can take solace in the fact that He doesn’t change His mind. If He did, we would live in fear that a day would come where He no longer loved us the way He says He does. That, of course, is not the case. Our Lord and Savior is and will always be the same.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” – Hebrews 13:8

Not only can we take comfort in knowing He never changes, but He never leaves our side. There isn’t anywhere you can go where He is not there. This, of course, means we cannot hide from Him. To some, that may sound scary. However, the only reason we would want to hide from God is that we feel shame for something we have done, fully knowing that it goes against God. However, even when we sin against Him, He is still there. He is stretching out His hand to help you get back up when you fall.

“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.” – Psalm 139:7-10

There hasn’t been one day where you faced this world alone. That’s right. Our Father has been with us even before we were conceived. He knew you were coming and He has prepared a plan just for you. It is up to you to choose Him. For me the choice is simple. How could I not want to have Jesus in my life? He has given me so much. He has redeemed me and forgiven me even when I didn’t deserve it. He can do the same for you.

“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well…Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.” – Psalm 139:13-4, 16

Take heart because even though the world around you is changing, He will never change. He is the one person we can count on to always be there. I don’t know about you, but I feel at peace just knowing that He is a constant in my life. I always know where I stand with Him and I know that He will never abandon me. You can also take comfort in that. Our Lord Jesus Christ loves you and He wants you to know that He will never stop loving you. Take comfort in our everlasting constant.

“This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life.” – Psalm 119:50
