I Will Go Before Thee
by Leon
We are told anxiety is a normal part of life. It’s natural to worry about the future. It’s natural to feel a little apprehensive about the unknown, it’s natural to fear uncharted waters in your life. We need to have a reminder that what’s natural isn’t always what’s good for us. God doesn’t want you to feel apprehensive about the future, He wants you to feel confident.
In the Bible, God spoke through the prophet Isaiah. He said that He would go before the people of Israel to set the crooked paths straight and to knock down anything that came into their way. Why? – Because he called them by name and chose them. God will never break His word. As thousands of years have come to pass since that time, we as believers were adopted into the promises of God.
We are now chosen and called by name. God now goes before us and makes our path straight. We have the ultimate navigator in life, namely the Creator of the universe. You needn’t be afraid of uncharted waters. God will go before you and keep you safe. A shepherd is always in the lead of his sheep, keeping them safe and guiding them down the correct path.
The Earth is in a habitable zone known as the goldilocks zone. Earth falls in exactly the right position to support life. If we strayed a little more toward the sun, our planet would end up similar to Venus and be far too hot to support life. Likewise, if we strayed away we would freeze. The path of the Earth is sheltered by the protecting hands of God. You’re in the protecting hands of God – so, why worry?
You might say “What if I wander from the path God is leading me on?” That’s a possibility. After all, we are sheep and all sheep go astray occasionally. However, a good shepherd will not allow his sheep to wander aimlessly, even if only one wanders off a good shepherd will chase after them.
In short, you needn’t worry so long as God is the shepherd of your life. He will go before you and make the path straight. If you wandered off maybe this post is God’s way of calling you back into His perfect direction.
