God is Real

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a very analytical person. Before I decide on anything, I have to analyze all the possibilities that could occur if I make that one decision. I am also an optimistic realist. What that means is that I look at the bright side of things but I am also realistic as to what I expect out of life. The one thing that stands out the most about me is that I am a questioner. I question everything. If you ask my husband, he’d tell you I ask too many questions. With all of these qualities combined, some may think it’s a miracle that I believe in God at all. However, I know with all of my heart, my soul, and my being that God is real without a doubt.

For any non-believer, this is probably the first step. They need to ask themselves if they believe that God exists. The first source that one needs to go to is the Bible. It is called God’s word for a reason. We can see evidence supporting the events that took place in it. However, in the end, it all comes down to faith.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1

This may be hard for some people to do because they only believe in things they see. However, we can see the existence of God in our everyday lives. He is in the very air we breathe, in the smile of your loved ones, in the rain that falls from the sky…He is in everything. When our eyes are open to Him, we see His influence everywhere. My husband made a great analogy as to how we know God exists. Blackholes are invisible to the naked eye. If we were to look into space with just a telescope, we would have not known of its existence. However, the way we discovered their existence was by seeing the effect it has on the surrounding asteroids and stars. It is the same with God. We may not see Him physically there, but we can see the effect that He has all around us.

“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.” – Psalm 139:7-10

Believing in God is a choice. As is believing in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the Son of God, God incarnated. We have the choice to choose Him just as He chose us. God was gracious enough to give us free will rather than just making us love Him. It is up to us to make that choice.

In my case, I made that choice a long time ago. Some people may think that the only reason I believe is because that’s what I was taught to do as a child. However, that’s not true. I believe because I chose to believe. As a kid, I didn’t know what it meant to have faith in God. However, anytime we would sing worship songs, my soul would jump for joy. I could feel the longing for Jesus in my life. I knew God was real because I could feel Him living within me. My eyes were opened to Him.

“Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him…” – Luke 24:31

It is up to you to make that same choice. Will you choose to believe in a living loving God who made you for a reason? Or, will you choose to believe in an insignificant existence where everything was made from random chance? The choice is ultimately yours. No one can make this decision for you. If you choose to not believe, then I wish you the very best and want you to know that God still loves you even though you don’t know Him. If you choose to believe, then I welcome you to the family. I will say that the road ahead will not be the easiest, but if you ever need anyone to talk to, reach out to Him. He hears you. You are also more than welcome to email me. I am here for you, but, above all, He is here for you, always.

“The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” – Zepheniah 3:17
