Faith Over Fear

It is easier said than done to have faith over fear. Psychologists or scientists will tell you that we developed fear as a defense mechanism. They would say that it is natural to feel fear. However, we were not meant to feel fear. When Adam and Eve were created, they lived at peace in a beautiful paradise where they lived in God’s presence. They had no fear, no worries, no anxieties. It wasn’t until they disobeyed God that they came to know what fear was. In the same way, when we live in His presence, we do not need to fear. When we let our focus slip from Him to all the things of this world, that is when we feel fear. I have done this in the past, but, I again want to share with you verses from His word to encourage you not to be afraid. Trust in Jesus. Let your faith overcome your fear.

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.” – Proverbs 18:10

“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” – Psalm 34:4

“Therefore, I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:6-7

“Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.” – 1 John 4:17-19

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;” – Philippians 4:6

“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?” – Psalm 56:3-4

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:6-7
