Everyone Can Have a Fresh Start

As New Year approaches I cannot help but think of all the people out there looking for a fresh start. Many of us falter from time to time in our walk with Christ. Many of us feel like there were things we could have done “better” or perhaps that we could have been better in some way.

Although people see the New Year as something of a fresh start, those of us with a personal relationship with Jesus always have access to a fresh start. The grace of our Lord is amazing, and it should never be underestimated. Every morning, every hour, every minute, His grace washes over us. We can always ask God for a new beginning, no matter the time of the year.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Even if we fall into sin – the work of Jesus on the cross was sufficient enough to pay the price for all. No matter how big of a mess we make, the grace of God is beyond anything we could imagine. There is nothing that His sacrifice on the cross did not cover.

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:8-9

Maybe you just feel like you want a fresh start with God. Perhaps this year you want to really deepen your relationship with God. Well, His grace is sufficient for you. If you approach Him with an open heart and acknowledge His Son, repent and put your faith in Him – He will hear you. We can always have a fresh start – through Christ Jesus.

Amen.
