Don’t Be Ashamed

In the past, I have spoken about truth. I have mentioned how society has chosen to believe that there is no ultimate truth. However, as Christians, we know that God’s word (the Bible) is the ultimate truth. Within its pages, we will come to understand who God is and we will learn how to walk in His grace. This is the truth that will never fade away.

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” – Matthew 24:35

As time goes on, more and more Christians believe that the Bible is outdated and becoming irrelevant to how the world is today. People are picking and choosing the parts of the Bible they like and disregarding the rest. Whether the reason is that those parts of the Bible make them feel uncomfortable or that those parts of scripture don’t coincide with their fleshly desires, people have decided to redefine what is right and what is wrong. They want to believe that God has changed His way of thinking with time. However, they have forgotten one key scripture that shows us that’s not the case.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” – Hebrews 13:8

Even in Malachi 3:6, it says, “For I am the Lord, I do not change…”. How can we say that God has changed His mind when it clearly says in His word that He does not change? My sister Joanna brought up a good point the other day. She said, “If we believed in a god who was constantly changing his mind, how could we ever really trust Him?”. We can’t trust that kind of god. However, we have a God who never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow, and will continue to be the same forever. There is comfort in His stability.

“He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.” Psalm 62:2

I have said it before that being a Christian is no longer popular. Even within the Christian community, there are those who want us to accept and celebrate the things of this world. However, I cannot call myself a true daughter of Christ if what the world thinks of me is more important than He is. We are to stand firm in His truth and be proud to be called His children. Even when the world hates us for our beliefs, we are to stand firm in Him.

“For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day…Be diligent to present  yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”- 2 Timothy 1:12, 2:15

It is time we open our eyes to the truth. The only way that will happen is if you give your life to Jesus and truly repent of your sins. I don’t say these things to make you feel guilty. I say these things in the hope that you come to see that there is a God who loves you and who wants to give you a better life. Don’t be ashamed to be a disciple of Christ. He came to die for your sins so that you may be redeemed. By accepting Jesus, you are now a child of God and an heir to His kingdom. God will be with you always. Be of good cheer because you are His and He is yours.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes…” – Romans 1:16
