A Prayer for the New Year

It’s finally 2021. I can honestly say that last year was a doozy of a year. So much of what we knew has changed and things just keep on changing. However, one thing always remains constant…God. We can always rely on Him to always be the same no matter the times or the circumstances. So, I want to start this year with a prayer. A prayer for a better year, for many blessings, and for us to grow in our faith in Him.

Dear Lord,

I first want to thank you for everything you have done for us this year. Even though 2020 was a rough year, it has taught me more and more about how much we need you. While the world around us changed, You were our only constant. Thank you, God, for always loving us and for the many blessing you give us.

Father, as we start the new year, I ask that you help us grow closer to you. I ask that you please open our hearts, our minds, and our souls to wanting a deeper relationship with you. With everything that is happening around the world, we need you now more than ever. Keep us in your light and remind us that, no matter what, you are always there. Lord may this year be a year of learning and growing. May we learn more about you and grow ever closer.

I also ask, Lord, that we learn to be courageous. With everything that has happened with the coronavirus, we have forgotten that we have an all-powerful God protecting us. I know we have no need to fear other people or even this virus. May we keep our faith in you that you will take care of us no matter the circumstance. You are greater than this sickness and I know that as long as we keep our faith in you, everything will be OK.

Again, thank you Lord for everything. I, for one, am excited for what is to come. I know that the road ahead may not always be easy, but we can be reassured that it will all be OK with you by our side. Thank you for always being there and for your unconditional love towards us. May we never forget the many blessing you have given us and the many trials you have gotten us through.

I pray this all in the name of Jesus,

Amen.
