A Gift from Above

by Leon

When we receive a gift from someone we love we often feel a variety of emotions. We feel love. We feel their kindness. We feel their compassion. We feel their appreciation. We feel their care. Sometimes we may even feel undeserving of their goodness. A gift can be a powerful testament of love to the people around us.

As Christmas approaches, we are reminded of the ultimate gift. God gave us His Son that we might also have the gifts of redemption and eternal life. Thanks to the wonderful gift from above, we as children of God entered into a beautiful age of grace.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9

Because of this one gift given to us from above – God has given us countless more gifts through the name of Jesus. We received the gift of the Holy Spirit as well as the fruits of the spirit. We received a new heavenly family as we become adopted into the family of our God through Jesus.

“So that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” – Titus 3:7

God is a gift-giver to those who honor Him. As we get lost in the holiday let us remember and reflect on everything God has given us through His Son. Without Jesus, we would still be strangers to God. Yet God in His ultimate kindness has offered every person the ultimate gift – reconciliation with Him through Jesus Christ.

“That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.” – 2 Corinthians 5:19

Do you want to receive the gift of reconciliation today?
